With just days to go before the release of World of Warcraft Patch 10.1, Blizzard has revealed the schedule for its upcoming raid on Aberrus, the Shadow Forge. The Nine-Boss Assault is an important part of the next content update of World of Warcraft : Dragon Legion, with multiple difficulties for players to challenge.
While the 10.1 patch “Cinders of Neltharion” has been available on the Public Test Region (PTR) for a while, the next update for World of Warcraft will be released on May 2. The update will lead players to explore Zaralek Cavern beneath Dragon Isle and uncover the secrets left by Neltharion, the Earth Warden, later known as Deathwing. As Deathwing, he was responsible for the titular Cataclysm, which caused the landscape of Azeroth to be changed forever with the release of the 2010 expansion. Over a decade later, Neltharion’s lab will be the backdrop for World of Warcraft’s upcoming raid tier.
In a blog post, Blizzard shared details on what World of Warcraft players can expect when Patch 10.1 arrives on May 2. Beginning a week after patch 10.1 itself went live, players will have access to Aberrus, the Shadow Forge on Normal, Heroic, and Normal difficulties. Fabulous difficulty. The first three bosses of the raid, collectively known as Abandoned Works, will also be available on Raid Finder difficulty that day. Every two weeks thereafter, there will be more Bosses on Raid Finder difficulty for players to challenge. Raid Finder’s final battle with Scalecommander Sarkareth will unlock in mid-June, just over a month after patch 10.1 was released. The last time players encountered Sarkareth was in the Forbidden Reach story, where he led the Sundered Flame in their quest for power. That search brought the wayward Dracthyr to Aberus, and their journey will be documented in the patch.
Aberus, Shadow Forge Raid Schedule
Week of May 8: Normal, Heroic, Mythic and Raid Finder Sector 1 (Abandoned Works) week of May unlock 22: Raid Finder Sector 2 (Wrath of the Giants) June unlock Week 5: Raid Finder Sector 3 (Shadows of Neltharion) Unlocked in June Week 19: Raid Finder Sector 4 (Edge of the Void) Unlocked Blizzard also listed the bosses World of Warcraft players will encounter in Aberrus, the Shadow Forge . Aside from Sacareth, one of the most notable encounters in the raid will be against Neltharion himself, Echo. While the Earth Guardian can be a formidable foe on higher difficulties, Blizzard removed a key mechanic from Neltharion during a round of PTR testing. Even though it’s a nostalgic callback to WoW :’s classic days, it’s difficult to balance Project Neltharion’s “call to class” mechanic across multiple difficulties, the developers say.
Once Aberrus is unlocked, a new raid loot option will be available in WoW for them, which is especially useful for transmog collectors. All in all, World of Warcraft’s Marauders has a lot to look forward to in the next few weeks.
World of Warcraft is now available for PC.
