World of Warcraft: Embers of Neltharion Image Teases White Dragon

World of Warcraft has just quietly revealed an exciting new dragonriding drake customization in Embers of Neltharion. While not currently available, World of Warcraft players can look forward to having white scales for their dragon mounts in the near future.

Patch 10.1, known as Embers of Neltharion, went live recently and brought a ton of new content. World of Warcraft players can explore the vast Zaralek Cavern region, experience the continuation of the Dragonflight story campaign, and soon take on Aberrus, the Shadow Forge, a new raid opening May 9.

However, it appears players will soon be able to collect additional special customization options for their dragoons. Several images released alongside Neltharion Embers show the World of Warcraft character riding a white-scaled dragon mount. This will be the sixth color offered as a customization option for these special mounts, and the first to not coincide with one of the five dragons.

How players will unlock this new World of Warcraft customization option remains to be seen, but it’s sure to be coming soon. A manuscript item entry for unlocking these options on each type of Dragonriding mount – including the new Winding Slitherdrake introduced in Embers of Neltharion – was added to the game in the new patch. Players won’t get the white scale option yet, but they can see what it looks like in Wowhead’s dressing room, where there’s a full Dragonriding custom emulator.

Interestingly, this is technically the second time the White Dragon has appeared in World of Warcraft. During the beta of Wrath of the Lich King, white drakes were briefly seen in early screenshots, footage, and even in-game. While they were initially teased as a potential new type of dragon, they were eventually replaced by the original dragons players know today. While it doesn’t appear elsewhere in the game, the Reins of the Albino Drake obtained by collecting 50 different mounts in World of Warcraft is the same as this early model.

Dragonriding fans of Dragonflight will be happy to know that there is a lot of new content in Embers of Neltharion. In addition to new glyphs, abilities, and races, World of Warcraft has also added a fifth dragon-riding mount, the Winding Slitherdrake. The mount wasn’t unlockable at press time due to a glitch, but Blizzard is working on making the chapter available so World of Warcraft players will be able to soar to the skies soon.

World of Warcraft is now available for PC.
