How to play Wordle
Wordle is a very popular game that is going viral in early 2022. Wordle’s simple setup and general rules make it suitable for cloning; the internet is full of clones of all kinds. To make sure players are in the correct location and not one of many copies, they need to head to the New York Times Games website or the New York Times Crossword app. Other versions of the answer differ from the one listed here, and may even have slightly different rules.

Choose a word that begins with five letters. The word must be a real word, not a proper noun, and it should have five different letters in it. Players should avoid the preceding answers and plural nouns ending in S or ES. Enter the starting word of your choice into the Wordle site. Press enter. The letters of the word change colors, and each color means something different. The green letters are correct, the gray letters are wrong, and the yellow letters are correct but in the wrong place in the word. Try another word that matches all the clues of the first word. Enter it into the Wordle grid and hit enter. The letters of the word also change color, giving the player more clues. Keep trying new words and getting new clues until the correct answer is guessed, or the player runs out of six tries. There is only one puzzle per day, and they reset at midnight local time. Be sure to check out the Wordle menu when your puzzle is complete. It will pop up after the puzzle is over, or if the player presses the graphic button in the upper right corner of the screen.
