Ubisoft Reveals 8 Minutes of Assassin's Creed Mirage Gameplay

Assassin’s Creed Mirage hits the stage at Ubisoft Forward, bringing a brand new story trailer, teasing Basim’s descent into madness, and a gameplay trailer. This is the most in-depth look at Assassin’s Creed Phantom to date, and helps outline what to expect from its role in the series.

As we all know, Assassin’s Creed Visions explored Basim’s past in Baghdad and his joining the Hidden Ones. Not only is the setup a throwback to the AC1, but many feature like special screen grain. Parkour has drawn the most comparisons to Ezio games, and fans have seen a trailer or taken a quick look at the game here and there over the past month or two. Now, Ubisoft Forward has unveiled the Hidden One Basim.

For Assassin’s Creed Phantasm, the Ubisoft Forward demo delved into the feather’s symbolism for the Hidden Ones, starting with Basim’s seemingly introduction to the Tenants. It also introduces some masks for members of the Order of the Ancients, while also raising some questions about the Hidden Ones and “freedom”. “What it means to be free,” “What must be sacrificed to be free,” and “How can you fulfill your destiny if you don’t know who you are” are all themes of Assassin’s Creed Phantom, the world of Baghdad, his personal quest, and more. Affects his relationships and understanding of the Creed.

Gameplay is also shown, focusing on what happens after his first Assassin meeting, with Basim reporting to his mentor, Roshan. He’ll assassinate someone before he takes off, using parkour at the very beginning of the gameplay trailer. He’ll screw things up, run fast across the city, etc. all while the Ezio comparison keeps ringing. Various elements of stealth are also on display, emphasizing that it’s a mainstay of the game. Other elements shown include tools, assassination mechanics, his bird Enkidu, quests, and more.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage releases on October 12, 2023 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
