One of Tekken 8’s returning characters adds a brand new move to his repertoire in the form of Triple H’s Pedigree. The character in question is King, a luchador from the Iron Fist stable, the Mexican wrestler who became one of the most recognizable wrestlers due to his panther mask and moves. The current version of King that fans have seen in newer Tekken entries is the second person in line to take the throne.
Tekken 8’s King gameplay trailer was released earlier this March, revealing that his professional wrestling style has been preserved. The character has been the series’ resident wrestling fighter, with a defensive playstyle focused on grabbing and quick strikes due to his limited range. King has many moves used by many wrestlers in WWE such as John Cena’s STF submission move, The Rock’s Rock Bottom, German suplexes and many more. One King’s latest move is inspired by Triple H and his Pedigree.
The Pedigree is a double underhook to the face, known for finishing Triple H during his tenure as a corporate wrestler. Tekken 8’s savvy wrestling fans joked that the move would bring down all characters regardless of their power level, referring to Triple H’s infamous bout where he beat nearly every opponent in the ring and was always The top players on the WWE roster are getting more and more indifferent from the audience.
This isn’t the only Terminator that King uses in the eighth Tekken entry. Another fan noticed during one of the game’s gameplay showcases that King could use one of Randy Orton’s finishers to pull an RKO out of nowhere. Also a big wrestling move is his Rage Art, which is a spinning inverted tirabuzon. Other techniques that appear in King’s moves include backstabs, running power bombs, and even giant swinging power bombs.
The Tekken 8 roster is currently filled with a bunch of returning characters, albeit redesigned and built from the ground up. For King’s storyline in Tekken 8, he was an active professional wrestler while managing an orphanage. The war between G Company and the Mishima Zaibatsu swept the world, and several children became homeless. This motivates him to enter the King of Irons tournament in hopes of getting the money he needs to help the kids.
Tekken 8 is in development.
