Nintendo has announced the release date for the amiibo duo set for Super Smash Bros. Pyra and Mythra. These characters were first introduced as fighters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s Challenger Pack 9 DLC, and each character acts as a fighter.
Amiibo was launched by Nintendo in November 2014 as a toys-to-life platform where fans can buy collectible figurines or cards of their favorite Nintendo characters. When scanned into games like Smash Bros, amiibo can provide additional clothing or weapons, unlock additional playable characters, or any variation of these. Some amiibos also allow certain game data to be saved on them, such as custom character specs. Pyra and Mythra are characters from the same Legendary Blade who can switch positions at will, and were first introduced in Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and now Nintendo is giving fans the chance to own their likenesses separately.
The release date for the amiibo dual pack has been announced on Twitter as July 21st. This means players can add these characters to Super Smash Bros. even if they don’t have the Challenger Pack 9 DLC. Best of all, each amiibo in the set allows players to unlock a unique Aegis weapon skin. This will be available to players playing as the Swordfighter class in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. However, these skins are not currently available. Nintendo will release a patch in the future that will include certain conditions players will need to meet in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 to use weapon skins. Currently, Nintendo has not specified exactly when the patch will be released.
Players expressed their excitement in the comments after the announcement, but they also drew attention to the fact that there is one more Super Smash Bros. character who has yet to receive his own amiibo. Many of the comments under the announcement were asking when Sora would get his amiibo, as this has been a bone of contention among Super Smash Bros. fans. It caused a lot of speculation, with fans wondering if Sora would get an amiibo. There are some theories that if Sephiroth and Kazuya amiibo release in January and Pyra and Mythra amiibo in July, then hopefully players will see Sora’s amiibo release in early 2024.
Whether these speculations will become a reality is difficult to say. Although fans may find it odd that only Sora has no amiibo in the Super Smash Bros. lineup. In the meantime, gamers can look forward to adding Pyra and Mythra to their collections.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is now only available on Nintendo Switch.
