Study Claims to Reveal State With Most Rage Quitters and Broken Controllers

A new study claims to reveal the U.S. states with the most angry quitters and out-of-control smokers. Their data is based on Google searches for Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo controllers in each of the 50 states. The states were ranked based on the average number of Google searches per 100,000 people for new controllers to replace broken controllers.

Rage quitting, while unpleasant, has been around since the dawn of the game. Whether a player is being sniped from a distance in a close online match, or is simply fed up with being destroyed by the same boss over and over again, many gamers who lack anger management skills vent their frustrations on their pathetic expensive controllers feel. Of course, it ends up creating more problems than it solves, and players will be angrier than ever.

Online casino specialist Datslots analyzed reams of Google search engine data from the three major video game controller makers and said Texas is most likely to be the state with the highest number of angry quitters who break controllers to express their displeasure with the game. The average Texan searches for video game controllers 181,000 times per month. The state, with a population of more than 30 million, averaged 603 searches for new controllers per 100,000 people.

States with the most quitters

Broken Xbox 360 Controller completely smashed Texas Nevada Illinois Georgia California Utah Colorado Ohio Arizona Arizona Michigan Michigan Texas seems to have a monopoly on rage quitters as #2 Nevada lagged behind with an average of 18,640 monthly searches, representing its population of 3.1 million people. That puts it at an average of 587 anger quitters/controller throwers per 100,000 state residents per month. Still, it will be interesting to see how the angry exit numbers in these video games combine with the anger of people losing money at Vegas casino tables.

Representing the Midwest is third-place holder Illinois. Midwestern details seem to be gently set aside so Illinois gamers can fire their controllers on hard surfaces. Illinois’ 12.5 million citizens conduct an average of 73,290 searches per month for new controllers, an average of 582 searches per 100,000 people. Georgia has 579 searches per 100,000 people, California has 577, Utah is sixth with 575, and Colorado is 560 times, Ohio with 54, Arizona in ninth place with 552, and finally Michigan with 541 searches per month for new controllers. As for the states with the most gamers and the least controller damage, Hawaii and Alaska top the list. This could be a case where last place could actually be a good thing.
