The Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Twitter account revealed an interesting stat about Rick the Door Technician’s combat prowess. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was plagued by a number of critical bugs at launch, making the game unplayable for some players on all platforms, especially PC. However, after a series of patches, players reported a more stable experience.
Star Wars: Jedi Survivor leans more towards humor than its predecessor, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. From overconfident battle droids to all kinds of hysterical small talk, Carl Kestis overhears all sorts of messages during his adventures. Even some of Survivor’s glitches are hilarious. But there’s one joke that’s a clear winner, and it’s a boss fight of all things.
Rick the Door Technician is a stormtrooper who considers himself a formidable enemy. Of course, he’s a good guy through and through. Rick can be found on the Imperial Satellite Station Nova Garon. As players lead Cal through a series of locked doors deep into the heart of the Imperial Stronghold, a dramatic piece of music will play, marking the arrival of one of the most challenging bosses in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Then, at the end of a long hallway appears Rick the Door Technician, a scrappy stormtrooper who vows to kill Cal. But literally, Rick is a joke. Most players can easily take him out in a few seconds and in multiple ways. The key word here is “most,” because according to a tweet from EA’s official Star Wars account, some players were actually defeated by Rick the Door Technician.
The tweet provides a statistical breakdown of the entire Star Wars Jedi: Survivor community’s gaming experience. For example, 52.5% of players choose to play the Jedi Knight difficulty level. The most popular lightsaber color is white. It also states that 489 players were defeated by Rick the Door Technician, a character who was supposed to be a joke.
It’s entirely understandable that the Rancor boss battle in Survivor claimed the lives of over 9 million players. This is the third boss in the game. Players are only just beginning to get acquainted with the nuances of the combat system. The same cannot be said for Rick the Door Technician. Players encounter Rick halfway through the game, which means they’re supposed to be a powerful Jedi who has survived some tough bouts at this point. However, nearly 500 players were taken down by stormtroopers, who were very attentive but little in combat skill. Thanks to a small group of players, Star Wars Jedi Knight : Survivor has some alternate universe versions where Rick the Gatekeeper is a hero of the Empire.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is out now on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
