The Sims 4 is getting two new underwear options in Create-A-Sim, as well as additional placement options when placing bathroom decorations. It’s been nearly a decade since The Sims 4 came out, but that doesn’t mean its developers are done with it. Even with Project Rene in progress, they’re still releasing content for The Sims 4 and making sure it gets the updates and fixes it needs.
Recently, the game’s major free update, the Baby Update, was released, adding a whole new life stage to The Sims 4, as well as various new gameplay features, such as science babies. When this update went live in March, due to its size and complexity, players didn’t think they’d get any additional free content anytime soon; however, update v1.97 proved them wrong.
On April 18th, The Sims Team published the patch notes, which appear to be regular updates to address typical Sims 4 glitches. To the surprise of many fans, they made two additions to Create-a-Sim and added the option to place clutter on bathroom fixtures – both in full sync with the release of the Bathroom and Underwear Sims 4 set. After downloading the new update, every Sims player will receive two new underwear with different color swatches. So, Sims can now wear high-waist briefs or low-waist boxer shorts in addition to classic underwear. These options are available in CAS as long as the Sim is a Teen or above. Most importantly, toilets, bathtubs, and sinks will now all correctly count as surfaces, allowing players to place decorative items on them.
The ability to place trinkets on bathroom fixtures might not seem like a big deal, but it will certainly help gamers who like to build homes. Previously, if a player wanted to place a soap dispenser or toothbrush holder next to a sink, they had to go through a convoluted process to do so; they had to enable a cheat in The Sims 4, activate bb.moveobjects, and move the object before actually putting down the sink Put it on the tiles.
No matter how old the game is, these quality of life changes are critical, and The Sims team needs to focus on addressing all the issues reported by avid Sims 4 players before they can fully move on to new projects and abandon the game.
The Sims 4 is now available for PC, Mac, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
