A ton of classic Rockstar games are on sale at discounted prices as part of a new Xbox sale. These games are available as part of the Xbox Gold Deals program, which offers Xbox Live Gold subscribers a weekly selection of discounted backwards compatible titles.
Despite producing some of the most critically acclaimed titles in gaming history, Rockstar Games has had a rocky few years. Doubling down on the massive financial success of GTA Online, discontinuing support for Red Dead Online, and disastrously releasing Grand Theft Auto : Trilogy – Definitive Edition all dent the company’s usual gold reputation. With GTA 5 turning 10 in September, fans of the world-renowned heist series are getting jittery over the lack of any new information on the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6. Meanwhile, fans of Rockstar Games have the chance to get some of the studio’s most famous titles at discounted prices.
Xbox Live Gold subscribers can download several of Rockstar Games’ most famous classics at discounted prices, as well as Assassin’s Creed 2, Revelations, and Rogue, as well as Konami’s Frogger and Frogger 2 among others. The list is the world-famous late 2000s classic Grand Theft Auto 4 and two DLCs, The Song of Gay Tony and Lost and Damned. Even some of Rockstar’s earliest and more influential games like Manhunt, Red Dead Revolver, Bully: Scholarship Edition, Midnight Club: Los Angeles, and Rockstar Table Tennis are available as part of the sale.
Games currently available on Xbox Sale:
Assassin’s Creed 2 Assassin’s Creed Revelations Assassin’s Creed Rogue Bully: Scholarship Edition Frogger Frogger 2 Grand Theft Auto 4 Grand Theft Auto 4: Song of Guy Tony GTA 43 3360 The Lost and Damned LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes Manhunt Max Payne Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne Max Payne 3 Midnight Club : Los Angeles Red Dead Revolver Rockstar Table Tennis Plus, all three games from former Remedy Entertainment action franchise Max Payne are part of the Xbox sale. Since Rockstar owns the rights to Max Payne and even developed the third game in the classic bullet-time action trilogy, the games are considered part of Rockstar’s near-perfect portfolio. It’s possible the trilogy will be included in this Xbox sale to promote Remedy’s upcoming remake of the first two Max Payne games. However, with Alan Wake 2 gearing up for a prime-time release in October, and Control 2 and two other multiplayer projects in development at Remedy, it might be a while before fans see Max Payne’s remake.
With Summer Game Fest looming, it’s hard not to speculate whether Rockstar’s participation in the promotion is a harbinger of news to come in the coming weeks. Rockstar isn’t usually a part of E3, as it always self-releases its plethora of blockbusters. However, now that the Summer Game Festival has effectively taken over the gaming frenzy in June, it’s definitely possible that Rockstar will join the party, especially with GTA 6 discussions reportedly eyeing 2024. Until then, Xbox gamers have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to snag some of Rockstar’s classics on sale.
