Select Zelda Amiibo Are Getting Restocked Soon

A selection of amiibo based on The Legend of Zelda will be restocking online in the weeks leading up to the release of The Legend of Zelda : Kingdom Tears. These drops were announced alongside the upcoming New Kingdom Tears Link amiibo, which will launch alongside the game.

Amiibo Beginning with the Super Smash Bros. franchise in 2014, new amiibo are regularly released alongside first-party Nintendo releases. Amiibo can be scanned on a Nintendo console to unlock rewards such as an extra power-up + Bowser’s Fury in Super Mario 3D World or a Mii costume in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. The Super Smash Bros. amiibo line continues today with the Pyra and Mythra amiibo sets, with a final release date of July 21. Despite varying degrees of functionality, amiibo have proven popular with collectors looking to own a collectible of their favorite Nintendo features.

The Legend of Zelda amiibo series will get a certain number of restocks ahead of the launch of The Legend of Zelda : Kingdom Tears. These retweets were shared by the game’s Twitter account, Wario64. The Link amiibo is based on his appearances in Majora’s Mask and The Twilight Princess, available for online pre-order at Best Buy and GameStop, respectively. They’re set to hit theaters on May 12, the same day Tears of the Kingdom hits theaters. The Ocarina amiibo is currently available from Amazon.

This will give fans the chance to earn a Zelda amiibo that can be used in Tears of the Kingdom to unlock a special glider. The official Zelda website also lists the Wind Waker, Skyward Sword, and Wolf Link amiibo as compatible with Tears of the Kingdom, though there’s no mention of how they function when scanned in-game. It’s unclear if these figures will also be restocked in the near future, but they can still be found through second-hand sellers.

This news seems to show a pattern of amiibo re-releases following the Mario amiibo restock that happened last month. The reprint happened shortly before March 10, about a month before the Super Mario Bros. movie premiered in the United States. With the Zelda amiibo replenishment coming up ahead of the release of Tears of the Kingdom, collectors will hopefully be able to more accurately predict when future amiibo drops will come.

The Legend of Zelda : Tears of the Kingdom launches on Nintendo Switch on May 12.
