Resident Evil 4 Remake follows Agent Leon S. Kennedy on his quest to free Ashley Graham from the terrifying cult that kidnapped her. To find where she is being held, he must fight his way through a hoard of countless infected townspeople and cultists. Leon will face a series of powerful enemies during his missions, and while some are difficult to defeat, a few of them can be easily taken down using certain items, such as the flash grenade.
When fighting enemies in Remastered RE4, players have the option to use throwable items such as grenades and flash grenades to kill and stun Leon’s enemies. While grenades can do some serious damage, flash grenades are even better when used in certain situations.
What do flash grenades do in Resident Evil 4 Remake?
When thrown, the Flash Grenade briefly shakes nearby enemies. This is great for when the player feels like Leon is surrounded or they just want to stagger enemies so they can deal damage easily. To get the most out of the flash grenade, players should only use it against large groups of enemies, as flash grenades aren’t nearly as effective against individual enemies.
In the opening chapters of the remake of Resident Evil 4, players may rely more on grenades than flash grenades. This is mostly due to the power of the grenades, but players will eventually see the importance of the flash grenades in Chapter 4 when facing Plaga Guadana.
Plaga Guadana are enemies that, when defeated, release the Plaga hidden within them. When this happens, Leon needs to focus on destroying the Praga sticking out of the enemy’s neck. While a few well-aimed bullets are sure to knock these foes down, a single flash grenade will kill them instantly.
As Leon progresses, he’ll face multiple forms of this enemy, so players should save any flash grenades they acquire and only use them when they feel like they have no other choice. Killing three Ganardos at once with a flash grenade will also unlock the Protect Your Eyes trophy/achievement.
Where to Find Flash Grenade in Resident Evil 4 Remake
As with ammunition, flash grenades can be found simply by exploring the world of Resident Evil 4 remastered, investigating new areas, and smashing the yellow boxes scattered throughout each chapter. While players won’t always be able to find flash grenades when needed, the easiest way to get them is to have Leon search every area he visits. That said, Leon can also unlock the ability to craft a flash grenade in Chapter 3.
How to make a flash grenade in Resident Evil 4 Remake
In order to craft the Flash Grenade in Resident Evil 4 Remastered, Leon needs to visit the Merchant and purchase the Recipe: Flash Grenade item from him. Then, as long as the player acquires 5 Gunpowder and 1 Resource (L) during their journey, they can craft a Flash Grenade at any time.
Resident Evil 4 Remake is out now on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
