Resident Evil 4 Remake follows Agent Leon Kennedy on a mission to free the president’s daughter, Ashley Graham, from a deranged cult. Shortly after starting his quest, Leon arrives at a small village full of infected villagers, and in order to advance the story, he needs to fight.
There are countless ways to take down enemies in RE4 Reforged, but Leon’s melee attacks are also very effective. While they may not be as powerful as the weapons in Leon’s arsenal, their ability to briefly overpower enemies is very helpful. The suplex melee attack is arguably one of Leon’s most antics, but performing it requires some very specific input.
What is the Suplex in Resident Evil 4 Remake?
Leon’s suplex attack is a very useful combat move that can be used to take down staggered enemies. When used, Leon will grab the opponent and fall backwards, driving the enemy’s head straight into the ground.
When the attack animation ends, enemies are briefly staggered, and Leon can deal some extra damage to them if they’re still alive.
How to Overpower Enemies in Resident Evil 4 Remake
After starting the battle in Resident Evil 4 Remake, Leon will need to rely on his guns, knives and explosives to survive. The Combat Knife is great for situations where players want to get up close and personal, but Leon can also kick and pin enemies in certain situations.
After unbalancing an enemy, a cue will appear for Leon to perform a unique melee attack. When standing in front of an enemy and activating the cue, Leon will kick staggering enemies to the ground, but if he’s standing directly behind them, he’ll grab them and knock them to the ground.
In order for this cue to appear, Leon first needs to stagger the enemies by doing some damage or attacking them in specific spots. The best way to make this cue appear is to shoot the enemy’s legs with a pistol until they drop to their knees. It’s also possible to stagger enemies by shooting them in the head, but targeting their legs is a more reliable method.
Then, whenever Leon has space, he can walk behind the enemy he just staggered, and the player can press the melee button to overpower the enemy.
The more players progress through each chapter of the remake of Resident Evil 4, the more enemies they face. Some of these enemies will stagger for extremely short periods of time, so players will need to move quickly if they want the Leon to overwhelm them.
Executing a suplex in Resident Evil 4 Remake isn’t overly complicated, but getting Leon into the position needed to activate it can be a little tricky, especially when fighting enemies in tight corridors or on small platforms. If the player fails to execute the suplex on the first try, they should lure the enemy they’re targeting into a more open area and try again.
Resident Evil 4 Remake is out now on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
