Capcom’s latest Resident Evil 4 remake has all the DNA of the series, plus a host of enhancements to make this good game even better. Mystery and obscurity aside, perhaps a key calling card of the series is its creature design, and in this latest entry, Verdugo certainly makes an impression in the murky sewers.
While the creature can be avoided, those wishing to keep Leon out of its clutches will need to use the environment to their advantage against Verdugo. This guide will contain all the basic information on how to defeat Verdugo in Resident Evil 4 and make the Wave Goodbye, Right Hand trophy and achievements more accessible.
How to beat Verdugo in Resident Evil 4 Remake
The encounter with Verdugo will take place in Chapter 10. Once you reach the subterranean lab, the elevators needed to continue going will be out of power. The only way to get it working again is to turn on the power; this takes Leon down the drain. Along the way, sounds from the vents herald the arrival of the boss.
When Leon turns on the power switch, Verdugo will fall from the ceiling and start stalking the area to attack. Its fast speed and quick attacks make it nearly impossible to parry its attacks or deal any significant damage to it, and that’s where the environment comes into play. The side panels located around the tunnel can trigger the frozen nitrogen to stop the Verdugo from traveling.
To do this, make sure to activate the panel a few seconds before Verdugo gets close, and once the gas kicks in, unload all the most powerful weapons in your arsenal to deal with it. This means that shotguns, grenades, and even bazookas are recommended when unavailable. Unfortunately, it can take several freeze cycles to defeat Verdugo, and each panel can only freeze the boss once.
After the first counter is successful, go to the locked door and turn the wheel to open it to the next section. While it may look safe, the Verdugo will attack from the upper vent, so press enter to duck when the button prompt pops up. Eventually, it’ll drop and keep attacking, so find the next panel and repeat the process of blowing it up with shotguns and grenades. Always make sure the beast is actively following Leon so that the trap isn’t triggered prematurely.
On Normal difficulty, it takes a total of 3 freezes and enough firepower to take down Verdugo. Once the monster is down, it’s safe to explore the area again and take the elevator out. At the same time, the precious Wave Goodbye, Right Hand trophy/achievement will also be added to the collection.
