Originally released in 2018, Sagebrush is a narrative-driven first-person game with horror elements set on a ranch in New Mexico, where players are tasked with uncovering the truth about the mysterious death of the Cult of Perfect Heaven. While the PS4 version of the game is currently on sale, the Nintendo Switch and Xbox versions of the game are still regularly priced at $5.99.
Reviews for Sagebrush on Steam are very positive, sitting at “Very Positive” in the reviewer ratings, just one percent below the “Overwhelmingly Positive” threshold. That’s impressive, considering 94% of the 174 users who reviewed the game gave it a positive rating. Sagebrush is currently selling for just 59 cents on the PlayStation Store, a 90% discount from its usual price of $6.
The deal isn’t exclusive to the PS4 version of the game either, as players on PS5 can also take advantage of the backwards compatibility discount. The game also features a simple Lo-Fi 3D graphics style, so players on either console won’t have to worry about the game being too demanding for their platform of choice.
Sagebrush is loosely based on real-world post-apocalyptic cults, such as Heaven’s Gate, which the game uses as inspiration to name the fictional cult in its story. There’s also a moody ambient soundtrack in the title, which is one of the selling points of its official PlayStation Store listing. With real-world inspiration, backwards compatibility, and a gripping horror plot, the game is currently on sale for 59 cents, which is too good to be true.
PlayStation Store deals are pretty common, with tons of deeply discounted games on offer every time the store updates. What makes this particular deal stand out is the overwhelmingly positive nature of the Sagebrush reviews, and how it offers discounts of up to 90%. With such a deep discount being offered for a title that’s considered so good, it almost feels like a missed opportunity not to take advantage of the sale. It’s hard to find anything under $1 in any store these days, let alone the video game industry.
