A talented Pokemon fan created Mega Evolution for Toxicroak to bring Pokemon to life. Pokemon fans are known for their creativity that translates into all kinds of fan art. The results often leave Pokemon fans imagining what it would be like if these variants were added to the game or anime.
There are some frog-based Pokmon, among them Toxicroak. The Toxicroak is an evolution of the Croagunk introduced in Generation 4, starting at level 37. Toxicroak is a poisonous/fighting type with striking colors that stand out with an evil and intimidating appearance and snake-like pupils. Toxicroak is a Pokmon that can be brutal and scary or a bit peaceful, seen relaxing in rocks and swamps. Another detail of its appearance is the red vocal sac under its chin, which is used to store poison. Toxicroak can use this poison to knock down opponents and even kill them.
Reddit user inkDOTexe shared their fan art showing what Toxicorak would look like if it undergoes a large evolution. The Pokemon franchise is always creating new mechanics, and even though it was introduced 10 years ago, Pokemon’s Mega Evolution still inspires fan art. The Mega Toxicroak has the same color and base design as its original form, but with a few key differences. The fan art puts the stinger on the foot to echo the stinger on the hand, and the vocal sac is under the chin, but now it appears to end on the Pokemon’s back. Mega Toxicroak also has a stylish headgear and bandages on his body, giving Pokemon a vibe that might remind old fans of Capcom’s iconic character Strider Hiryu. InkDOTexe’s post has had over 3,000 likes and dozens of comments praising fan art. One user said they would love to see a version of The Three Musketeers, but with three super-evolved ninja frog Pokemon. Another user stated that they would like to see the Mega Evolution mechanic not be abandoned so quickly. Some users also remember Ash-Greninja, also known as Battle Bond Greninja. This ability makes one of Ash’s best Pokmon more ninja-like, looking almost like Ryu Hayabusa.
InkDOTexe’s fan art combines Pokemon and ninjas, two things that are very popular in pop culture. Users are drawn to attention by getting the colors and designs of the original Pokemon right, while creating a look for Toxicroak that feels natural. Turns out Mega Toxicroak would be a good candidate for entry into Pokken Tournament DX, and interestingly enough, Croagunk is on the roster.
