A new Risen Elder Dragon has appeared in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. The Risen Crimson Glow Valstrax has soared onto the scene, and only the best hunters can defeat it. How to Unlock Risen Crimson Glow Valstrax
Like other resurrected ancient dragons, the resurrected Crimson Glow Valstrax can only be unlocked by skilled hunters who have reached a very high master rank. Specifically, they’ll need to reach Master Level 160 to unlock the quest “Risen Crimson Glow Valstrax,” which asks hunters to find and defeat the beast in the sandy plains.
As of this writing, Risen Crimson Glow Valstrax has some of the most brutal combat in the game right now, even among the other Risen Elder Dragons. With this in mind, players should first learn how to fight this beast.
How to beat Rise Crimson Glow Valstrax
As one would expect, this monster is very aggressive, and even in its normal state it will hit any player in its path with a single shot. When the fight starts, Valstrax stays in normal mode, fights as usual, doing sky attacks, hunter sprints, etc. However, when enough damage is done, Valstrax goes into Risen state, and it’s safe to say “Risen” Crimson Glow Valstrax is one of the most powerful monsters in the history of the series.
When resurrected, Valstrax gains a ton of new moves, most of which are secondary attacks to existing moves. For example, its signature “beam” attack, which normally only explodes once, now has two in a row. The same applies to its Flurry attack, where Valstrax repeatedly uses its wings to slam the hunter, who is now split into two instead of one.

However, hunters should mainly be wary of its signature move “Around the World”, which has now been upgraded to “Stellar Shower Ambush”. As usual, Valstrax will let out a roar and fly into the sky, disappearing from sight. More often than not, it will crash into the hunter, dealing massive damage and leaving little room for dodge. However, while Valstrax is still in the air, it will now shoot down red orbs that deal dragon damage, exploding shortly after landing. This move basically covered the entire area, and the only way to avoid a single shot was to dodge twice in a row, first dodging the explosion of the sphere, and then dodging the impact of Valstrax.
With such powerful monsters, it’s thankful that almost all of the game’s main elements, fire, ice, water, and thunder, are extremely powerful and can be used against the beast. Players should use these elements on their weapons and aim for the head or chest, as this is where the most damage is done.
Overall, the Risen Crimson Glow Valstrax is easily one of the most powerful monsters the series has ever seen, and certainly the most powerful currently in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak.
