In the Save the Date announcement, Meta confirmed that its VR showcase — the Meta Quest Game Showcase — will return on June 1. Fans can look forward to Meta Quest following new game announcements, previews, and developer panels.
While VR is considered by many to be a niche market, it forms a significant part of the gaming industry. Headphones may vary in popularity, but there’s no doubt that the Meta Quest 2 is one of the best around. As such, it’s a smart idea for Meta Quest 2 owners to mark their calendars with a reveal date.
The Meta Quest Gaming Showcase will take place on June 1 at 10AM ET/1PM ET and will air on Twitch, Facebook, Youtube, and Meta Horizon Worlds. Described as “the biggest celebration of the depth and breadth of content on the Meta Quest platform to date,” the company confirmed that the main showcase will feature 40 minutes of content (hosted by Oculus Studios executive producer Ruth Bram). This includes new VR game announcements, gameplay sneak peeks for upcoming titles, major updates for current games, and more during the Main Event.
The preview will begin at 9:45 AM PT/12:45 PM ET before the general launch. It will focus on game updates and debut trailers ahead of the proper Showcase, and then there will be a post-show developer roundtable discussing some of the upcoming games. Of course, what competition and who will be in attendance won’t be revealed until the Showcase takes place.
The Meta Quest Gaming Showcase is one of many events taking place this summer. It’s the first VR-focused title, though, but after the Summer Games Fest kicks off on June 8. The Xbox Games Showcase and Starfield Direct will follow on June 11. As of now, many fans are hoping that Sony will hold a PlayStation Showcase soon, and that Nintendo may also hold a big Direct showcase.
Of course, whether these take place in June, when it’s already packed, or near the end of May, remains to be seen. If it does happen, fans can expect an announcement in the coming weeks.
