Marvel’s Spider-Man Mod Completely Removes Its Most Unpopular Gameplay Sections

The mod for Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered removes arguably the least popular part of the game from the title. Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered launches on PC in 2022, and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales also launched on PC last year.

With the release of the PC version, many gamers were able to install mods for Marvel’s Spider-Man Remake, which changed various elements. For example, Marvel’s Spider-Man remake mod puts fans in the role of Wolverine, while another mod puts players in the role of Spider-Gwen. Some mods can make bigger changes to the game, as one mod allows the user to skip entire sections of the game.

A Reddit user named Historical_Room_1617 has shared a new mod for Marvel’s Spider-Man Remake that allows fans to skip all of the Mary Jane and Miles Morales parts of the game. While players will play the role of Peter Parker most of the time, there are several parts of Marvel’s Spider-Man in which they control MJ and Miles. The main purpose of these sequences is to give the user a break from the action, but they include some controversial game mechanics, such as forced stealth sections. The MJ and Miles sequence was criticized at launch, and it looks like this mod skips all of them entirely.

Appropriately titled “Skip All MJ and Miles Missions”, this mod was uploaded to Nexus Mods on April 18th, making it a fairly new addition. According to the description, the mod skips all the MJ and Miles parts as it loads the player into the next story mission of Marvel’s Spider-Man. The modders stated that they eventually plan to release an updated version that includes the Grand Central Station mission, as they feel it is the only decent level involving Mary Jane.

Opinion seems to be mixed in the comments section, as Marvel’s Spider-Man’s Mary Jane and Miles Morales missions don’t seem to be universally loathed. Some fans claim to love the quests, but they still mention that this mod should help users who don’t. Some players mentioned that these quests served the story in the first game, but weren’t worth revisiting in subsequent games, while another wondered why the mod took so long to come out. Overall, while these quests aren’t universally annoying, players seem happy to know there’s such a mod for users who don’t like them.

Marvel’s Spider-Man is out now on PC, PS4 and PS5.
