The main Mortal Kombat 1 roster may have leaked, featuring several fighters from the series’ mid-2000s era. Mortal Kombat 1 will mark a new era for the fighting game series, as the serial reboot of Liu Kang, the god of fire, creates a peaceful new universe for the inhabitants of Earthrealm. This new world is soon threatened by the returning Shang Tsung, requiring Liu Kang and his allies to once again throw themselves into battle.
Both the original Mortal Kombat 1 announcement and last week’s brutal Summer Game Fest trailer revealed some familiar characters taking part in the fight, including iconic ninja rivals Scorpion and Sub-Zero, sisters Kitana and Mileena, and Hollywood stuntmen Cast – Earthrealm defender Johnny Cage. Mortal Kombat 1’s roster will be split into two groups, the : main playable character set and curated Kameo fighters. These are computer-controlled support characters that can be summoned at the touch of a button.
A massive new Mortal Kombat 1 leak may have just revealed the game’s full playable cast. Reddit user MarkT_D_W recently shared a ton of supposed MK1 info on r/Mortalkombatleaks, with tidbits like Mortal Kombat 1 getting rid of the Krypt in the last three entries. Also included in the leak is a so-called playable roster, which is said to have 24 characters. 19 of them are listed here, including previously confirmed Kombatants and newly announced names from the franchise’s storied history.
Many of the names in this leaked list are great for Mortal Kombat fans Familiar with games from the mid-2000s, the series made the leap to 3D graphics on the sixth generation of consoles. Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon recently hinted that MK4 fighters like Reptile and Reiko would appear in Mortal Kombat 1, and sure enough, both fan favorites were featured in the leak. Other notables include the chaos-obsessed Harvick in Mortal Kombat : Deceit, the vampire Nitara in Mortal Kombat : Deadly Alliance, and the 2006 Mortal Kombat : Doomsday character. There was also Lin Mei, a foreign warrior who had never appeared before.
Of course, this new Mortal Kombat 1 leak is not official, and until NetherRealm confirms it, any information from it should naturally be treated with healthy skepticism. However, this Mortal Kombat 1 roster does match some of Ed Boon’s past social media teases, and if it’s legit, the game will feature many familiar faces from Mortal Kombat’s oft-forgotten early 3D era. The leaked list isn’t complete either, which means NetherRealm may have more surprises awaiting Mortal Kombat 1’s release this fall.
Mortal Kombat 1 will release on September 19, 2023 for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
