Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores Has The Last of Us Part 2 Easter Egg

Horizon Forbidden West’s Burning Shores DLC references another Sony first-party game, The Last of Us Part 2. Burning Shores is an expansion to Horizon Forbidden West that takes place after the events of the base game, so players need to complete the main story to access new content. Additionally, players should note that while Horizon Forbidden West was released on both PS4 and PS5, Burning Shores is only available on PS5.

Many of Sony’s exclusive titles include Easter eggs from other PlayStation franchises, as does 2022’s Horizon Forbidden West. For example, a gamer found a beautiful God of War Easter egg in Forbidden West in Horizon West, featuring statuettes Brock and Sindri. Now, another fan has found a reference to The Last of Us Part 2 in the Burning Coast DLC in the Forbidden West of Horizon.

Originally discovered by a Reddit user named AlbusDumbldor, the Burning Shores DLC for Horizon Forbidden West features the toy bow from The Last of Us Part 2, PlayStation LifeStyle reports. For those who don’t know, the user can play the bow sequence in The Last of Us Part 2 during the aquarium. As shown in the image shared by AlbusDumbldor, the toy bow in Burning Shore requires toy arrows as ammo, and fans can craft these arrows with fairly few resources.

The player also shared information about the location of the toy bow in the DLC, confirming that players can obtain it from the given location in the Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores map. The Reddit poster might jokingly call it the most powerful weapon in the Burning Shores expansion, but it doesn’t look like they’re aware of its connection to The Last of Us Part 2. The Burning Shores DLC may include more references to other PlayStation franchises, but it may take some time for fans to discover all of them.

While the toy bow was a nifty Easter egg, developer Guerrilla Games also added a bunch of legendary weapons to the Burning Shores DLC in the forbidden west of Horizon. Some of these legendary weapons can be purchased from vendors, while others are rewarded for completing quests. It looks like many of these weapons will require players to trade in 3,000 Metal Shards and 8 Brimstone Shards, so fans may want to save these valuable resources.

Horizon Forbidden West is out now on PS4 and PS5.
