In Hogwarts Legacy, the Loyalist Assassins may seem less threatening than other goblin enemies, as they wear light armor and use smaller weapons, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, these enemies are some of the most difficult generic enemies in the game, especially if the player doesn’t know how to get around their powerful defenses. Although fairly tough, Loyalist Assassins are actually quite common, so it’s best for players to know all of their strengths, defenses, and most importantly, their weaknesses.
As the name suggests, the Loyalist Assassins are part of the Hogwarts legacy of the Loyalists, a group of goblins led by the villainous Ranrok who are revolting against wizards. While players may sympathize with the plight of the goblins, Ranrok’s genocidal tendencies make him difficult to identify with. The Loyal Assassin is one of the most powerful members of his army, and the player will have to deal with them quite often.
What is a Loyal Assassin?
Loyalist Assassins can be identified by their berets, which are often associated with elite branches of the armed forces in real world armies. The field guide explained that these goblins use ancient magic to grant themselves extraordinary speed, an ability they utilize in battle.
Loyal Assassin Defense
Their magical speed makes the Loyalist Assassin one of the most defensive enemies among the Loyalists. For starters, they have yellow shields, meaning players can’t harm them at all unless they can break it with control spells like Levioso, Glacius, Arresto Momentum, or Transformation.
What’s more, thanks to their speed, they’re able to break combos, reapply their shields, and counterattack. This makes fighting them extremely difficult. Of course, there’s a way around their pesky speed magic.
royalist assassin attack
Loyalist Assassins actually only have one attack, but they are very powerful. They will cross their blades and then charge towards the player with incredible speed. This attack is unstoppable, meaning players must rely on Hogwarts Legacy’s dodge roll to avoid it, and then counterattack.
Loyal Assassin Weaknesses
As mentioned earlier, Loyalist Assassins can break out of combos and reapply their yellow shields even while in the air. The only way to stop this from happening is to counteract their mana-filled speed with Arresto Momentum to slow them down. If they have a shield, this will break their shield and prevent them from getting out of the combo. It’s possible to brute force through their enchantments, but it’s much easier to simply cast Arresto Momentum and then fight them as you would a normal enemy.
Of course, the easiest way to defeat them is to use an ancient magic finishing move attack, as this will instantly defeat the Loyalist Assassins. Players looking to defeat the Loyalist Assassin in their own game can also sneak up on them and use the Petrificus Totalus, as this will also kill these enemies in one hit.
Hogwarts Legacy is out now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S; a Nintendo Switch version will arrive on July 25, 2023.
