A Genshin Impact fan has created an interesting concept for the Geo rework that significantly improves the element’s position in the current meta. There are seven different elements in the game, Dendro being the most recent one introduced. Combining different elements will allow players to trigger various elemental reactions that can have different effects, from dealing AoE damage with Electro-Charged to immobilizing groups of enemies with Frozen.
The addition of Genshin Impact’s Dendro element also introduces new elemental reactions, which have a major impact on character metadata. None of these new reactions can interact with Geo, which results in this element being almost completely isolated in most team compositions.
A Reddit user named _Eltanin_ shared an interesting Geo rework concept that brings this element back to metadata. Currently, the only elemental reaction that Geo can trigger is Crystyllize, which drops small collectable elemental shards on the ground that provide decent elemental shielding. The proposed rework will preserve the defensive nature of Crystalize by ensuring that the new reaction only triggers if the active character already has a Geo shield equipped. According to the rework, dealing cryo damage to Crystallized Shards should cause a small AoE explosion that applies a debuff called Petrification that slows enemies’ attack and movement speed. This effect can be superimposed, and when superimposed to a certain amount, the opponent will be completely frozen.
Magnetization can be triggered by combining Electro with Crystyllize Fragments, and like the previous reaction, it causes an AoE explosion and applies the debuff. Enemies affected by this debuff release a pulse of energy when hit by an Electro character’s attack. All enemies under this effect are also slowly pulled together.
Unlike the previous two reworked reactions, Eruption does not apply any debuffs. Instead, whenever the player deals Pyro damage to the Shard, it causes the Pyro to explode, splitting the Shard into three smaller parts. Each of these smaller particles does geographic damage to targets they hit.
Many fans claimed that this might be the best rework proposal they’ve ever seen, since it wouldn’t make the Geo the most powerful element in the game. Currently, the only viable Geo character in the current meta is probably the popular Geo Archon Zhongli, whose gear is both offensive and defensive.
Genshin Impact is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4 and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
