Genshin Impact players discovered that HoYoverse has updated the placeholder model for a portion of the map that is expected to be the upcoming Fontaine region. The game’s world consists of seven different main areas, each with a symbolic element and divine ideal.
So far, Genshin Impact has only introduced four of these countries: Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, and Sumeru. The ongoing update 3.6 adds two new subregions belonging to the Dendro nation, which are rumored to be the last map expansions for the foreseeable future.
Reddit user Thin-Kinkle shared an interesting screenshot showing an updated version of Fontaine’s placeholder model, which can be seen in various places in Teyvat, including the new Sumeru desert. While the final version of the Fontaine will likely look different, the updated model could set expectations for the new region. Some fans believe that the large river that flows through the area may play a major role in its main questline, since Fontaine is known as the Land of Hydropower. Previous Genshin Impact leaks suggested that the main city could be connected to a vertical platform surrounded by waterfalls. However, this leak should be taken with a grain of salt, as it was taken from the game’s original beta phase.
Could this be Fontaine? By u/Thin-Kinkle in Genshin_Impact Each area in the game is based on a real-life location, and according to various rumours, Fontaine will be inspired by French culture and apparently has a steampunk theme. When it comes to new roster additions, previous leaks have revealed models for 10 new Genshin Impact characters tied to Fontaine.
As for the exact location of Fontaine, it is estimated that the area is north of the Sumeru Desert and west of the Liyue Domain. HoYoverse had the opportunity to introduce new parts of Liyue and Mondstadt together with Fontaine. Although Mond was the first nation to introduce travelers, it is currently the smallest region in the game.
According to a reliable leaker, players will be able to meet Fontaine’s first playable character in the upcoming Genshin Impact 3.7 release. Currently, her name is Charlotte, and she will be an important NPC in the next few months.
Genshin Impact is available now for PC, PS4, PS5 and mobile. A Switch version is in development.
