Game of Thrones has been over for a while. In many ways, however, the lasting impact of HBO’s biggest series remains, even in House of the Dragon, which changed the way Westeros producers approach sex, leaving ex-GOT star Ciarn Hinds (aka Mance Rayder) was very satisfied.
In three of the series’ eight seasons, Hinds played the leader of the free folk, commonly known in Game of Thrones lingo as a wildling, and his character appeared in seasons 3, 4 and 5, arguably One of the best of the show with many fans. Although Mance eventually met his maker at the hands of Stannis Baratheon, the Irish actor proved to be happy to be burned alive on television, unlike his portrayal of Numerous sex acts take the opposite stance.
In an interview with The Independent, Hands spoke about the acting opportunities his role on Game of Thrones brought him. However, that doesn’t mean he fully agrees with every decision, as he’s “sickened by the amount of sex that’s going on in it” because he feels it affects the rest of the episode. In the actor’s view, the core strength of “Game of Thrones” is the “political narrative” that can be retrieved from the books of George R.R. Martin. At the same time, he admits that the propensity to feature pornographic content is just business.
Hands was also asked about his experience working with an Intimacy Coordinator. His most recent anecdote comes from the Irish comedy Dry, in which he was forced to direct a scene with his wife, Hlne Patarot. Since Game of Thrones ended, several actors have complained about the way the series handles sex scenes and the lack of an intimate coordinator.
Stars who have expressed displeasure with filming sex scenes on Game of Thrones include Emilia Clarke, Jason Momoa and Gemma Whelan, among others. Still, HBO has since changed its stance on the issue. In that sense, House of the Dragon offers a great opportunity to improve the filming process, plus the prequels don’t have as many sex scenes as the original series.
Perhaps the most hilarious or awkward sex scene in “House of the Dragon” is between Alicente and Viserys, played by Olivia Cooke and Paddy Considine, the latter of whom is much bigger than the actress 20 years older. This time, however, experts were on hand to help both performers through the process.
