Fortnite Players Find a Way To Detect Bush Campers

Fortnite players figured out a way to spot sneaky jungle campers without checking inside. Fortnite has been around for a few years now, and it has definitely found a way to make a name for itself in the battle royale genre. Originally, what set it apart was the building mechanic, but now the game allows players to opt out by adding a zero-build mode. Still, it manages to stand out through other quirks, such as goofy skins, infamous emotes, and unique weapon and environmental traits.

Although Fortnite has other game modes, such as Creative, it is best known for its Battle Royale game mode. The main goal of a battle royale game is to be the last player alive, in this case, to earn a Victory Royale. While Fortnite players are motivated to take down enemies, they can also simply wait and try to reach the top that way. This has been a common tactic since the early days, especially before legendary shrub items were vaulted. Even now that the Bush item is gone, there are still Bush campers in Fortnite – they just hide in bushes in the environment; the only difference between the two is that these bushes are bigger and can’t move.

Jungle campers can be a nuisance, and sometimes they can even surprise the best players and eliminate them all in one go. Fortnite players can now use the new Lock On Pistol to find bush campers in hideouts from a distance.

With the Lock On Pistol, the player can aim in a certain direction, and it will lock on to enemy targets to ensure it hits them. So since bushes are not buildings and don’t block oncoming impacts, the weapon can lock on to campers and detect them up to 50 meters away. That doesn’t mean Fortnite jungle campers have to come up with a whole new strategy; they’ll have to be careful if they see an enemy pointing this futuristic pistol in their direction.

Some gamers find this technique a bit risky, as it’s nearly impossible to see other players when they’re in the bushes without going into the bushes. Those concerned players believe that people who use this method risk being falsely reported to be cheating, since those hit by Lock On Pistol may not be sure how they were first discovered. Thankfully, the Epic Games review reports Fortnite footage, so there shouldn’t be any issues.

Fortnite is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
