Soon, Final Fantasy 16 fans will be able to get their hands on the long-awaited playable demo when it goes live on June 12. Square Enix has revealed when gamers can expect the Final Fantasy 16 demo to go live during the pre-release celebration, detailing how long the demo will cover and the battles the demo will contain.
The next installment in Square Enix’s long-running series, Final Fantasy XVI has become one of the most anticipated games of 2023. As Clive Rosefield, players will experience three aspects of his life, from adolescence to adulthood, and use the powers of the various Eikons in the game to manifest in different ways. Since day one, Final Fantasy fans have been expressing their enthusiasm and interest in the latest entry in the franchise. Soon, PS5 players will be able to experience Final Fantasy 16 for themselves.
Beginning Monday, June 12 at 1:00AM/4:00AM ET, a demo of Final Fantasy 16 will be released for free download to all PS5 players. While evidence of the demo’s existence briefly appeared on social media ahead of the livestream, it was not available for download. Previously, Yoshida stated that he wanted to release a demo of Final Fantasy 16 before the game’s release to avoid the hype from becoming obsolete too quickly. During the pre-launch celebration, Yoshida clarified that although the trial version has a release date, it may take a few minutes to land on the global distribution server, and asked players to wait patiently in advance. Yoshida detailed that the demo will cover at least two hours of gameplay, warning players that since it takes place early in the game, there will be some lengthy cutscenes along the way.

The combat portion will allow players to try out Clive’s Eikonic abilities, and any progress made in the demo will carry over to the full version of Final Fantasy 16.
At the time of writing, it’s unclear how much storage space the Final Fantasy 16 demo will require. While two hours may not seem like much compared to the full Final Fantasy XVI, players who download the demo will experience the power of Eikonic in no time.
