The Stone Furnace is the basic smelting machine for beginners, with a minimum output of 0.3125/s (iron, copper, and stone bricks) and 0.0625/s (steel plates).
The Steel Furnace is the first upgrade to the Stone Furnace and is slightly faster, producing 0.0625/s (Iron, Copper, and Stone Bricks) and 0.125/s (Steel Plates).
The Electric Furnace is the most advanced furnace in the game. Although the output levels are the same as the steel furnace – 0.0625/sec (iron, copper and stone bricks) and 0.125/sec (steel plate), it consumes much less power and input.
Starting the game with a stone furnace is the best route, but the game gives the option to create layouts with a steel furnace.
