Renowned gamer and YouTube personality Dr. Disrespect recently expressed his admiration for the newest addition to the Star Wars gaming universe, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. The game has been highly anticipated by the community, and the warm reception of its predecessor adds to the excitement around launch. However, there seem to be some issues with the new release, with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor facing a wave of negative reviews and criticism from the community.
Fans took to online digital storefronts and sites like Metacritic to hit the game with a wave of low scores and negative reviews. Many reviews indicated that the game’s performance on PC was a major issue, with some players experiencing issues even with high-end graphics cards. Considering the PC specs for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor suggest that the RTX 2070 should be sufficient for the recommended requirements, the concerns expressed by the community seem reasonable.
However, Dr. Disrespect’s opinion differs from most of the negative reviews. He praised Star Wars Jedi Knight : Survivor on social media, sharing that he played the game on max settings all day. While he noticed some frame drops during certain cutscenes, he found the game’s overall performance and experience to be top-notch. In addition, Dr. Disrespect also criticized those who complain excessively about video games and advised them to “go enjoy life”.
Given Dr. Disrespect’s popularity as a gamer and influencer, his views carry weight among his followers and the wider gaming community. Many players look to him for insights and advice, so his positive reviews may sway some players’ opinions. However, it’s important to acknowledge the legitimate concerns the community has raised about Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s performance issues.
On April 28, EA’s official Star Wars Twitter account also posted a statement acknowledging performance issues reported in the PC version of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. According to the statement, EA and Respawn are aware that players may experience technical issues on high-end PCs with certain configurations, specifically those with multi-threaded chipsets designed for Windows 11 and high-end graphics cards with low-end CPUs. The development team apologizes for any inconvenience these performance issues may have caused PC gamers, and is working on several performance fixes to address these issues.
However, the statement also notes that these performance fixes will need to be thoroughly tested to ensure they don’t introduce new issues to the PC version of the game. As such, the development team has not announced a specific timeline for these updates, but will announce them as soon as they are ready.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is currently available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
