In a recent streaming chat with some members of the Diablo 4 development team, it was revealed that the developers wanted to avoid having a single item storage location similar to Destiny’s Loot Cave. With many players highly focused on leveling up their Diablo 4 characters or building builds that can easily make it through the most difficult dungeons, it’s no surprise that Blizzard implemented changes that promise to balance the game and spread out the way players gather – game loot and equipment .
Other tweaks in Diablo 4 seem to be the focus of the game’s community right now. Many players have clamored for new and old features to be added to this action role-playing game, especially since many players have put in hundreds of hours of playthrough time. Some of these include changes to how Diablo 4 Gem Bags or Treasure Goblins work. While Blizzard may not be able to fix all of players’ issues right away, seeing a list of all the issues addressed in an upcoming patch could be a good way to temporarily reassure the community.
In the first installment of the Diablo 4 Campfire chat series, the game’s development team shared that they’re trying to balance elements of the game to avoid something akin to Destiny’s Loot Cave. According to general manager Rob Fergussion and game director Joe Shely, the goal is to balance Diablo 4 so that it has no “metadata” and all builds created by players become “viable.” The team wants players to have a variety of options when it comes to loot, which may explain the variety of in-game activities at the end of the game, such as world bosses, rotation events, and nightmare dungeons.
It’s understandable to have this kind of goal, considering the development team wants players to explore and enjoy all of the content available in Diablo 4. If there is only one location that allows players to gain a lot of experience and loot, it defeats the purpose of other activities in an action RPG. Now, the challenge for the team is how they can successfully implement changes to achieve this much-sought-for game balance.
The Diablo 4 campfire chat seems like a great way to let players know what the team is working on to further improve the video game. Not only does it give players an idea of where the game is going, but it also gives the community some insight into the future of Diablo 4 and its upcoming content.
Diablo 4 is out now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
