Destiny 2 Streamer Completes Macrocosm Root of Nightmares Encounter Solo

A streamer completed the Megacosmic Raid encounter in Destiny 2’s newest raid, Nightmare Roots, solo. This is an encounter that requires the entire raid team to proceed simultaneously, and at least four people are required to run normally. However, the word “impossible” doesn’t sit well with Destiny 2 players, and the community cheered the streamer’s astounding achievement.

Destiny 2’s Nightmare Roots raid launched alongside Lightfall, and Team Hard in the Paint completed it in a record time of 2 hours and 24 minutes on day 1 of the match mode. For the first time in Destiny 2 Raids, over 100,000 players have completed Raids in Competitive Mode. This is possible because players have 48 hours to complete raids in race mode. These stats lead players to believe that the raid is fairly easy to complete, but while it may be a topic of debate, completing a Macrocosm encounter solo is no easy feat.

The victory was accomplished by a streamer named NAPainter, who pulled off the encounter using a variety of strategies and loadouts. They used Destiny 2’s Warlock character and the Solar subclass, which was necessary considering the Well of Radiance super was essential to completing the encounter. They start with the Sunbracers Exotic build, which lets a junk solar grenade launch on powered melee kills and helps clear out mobs and survivability when paired with healing-giving Ember of Resolve shards.

First, NAPainter completes two planetary transitions in one cycle instead of the usual four. Since players need to skip maps for the mechanic, the YouTuber uses the Warlock Well gliding method, which returns to Destiny 2 in 2021, for improved mobility. Once the mechanic is done, they switch to another loadout, using the Bait and Switch Cataclysmic as a heavy weapon and the Trace Rifle with the Shoot to Loot perk to get heavy ammo from across the room. Then it’s about getting max DPS in each phase. They were very close to erasure in the final stretch but managed to survive.

The community has been celebrating NAPainter’s accomplishments, as completing any raid encounter alone, especially one like this one, is a commendable achievement. Macrocosm is the only encounter so far that has not been completed alone, as players have completed other encounters, including Destiny 2’s Nightmare Roots final boss Nezarec. Now, with the community knowing that this encounter can be done solo, players are calling for someone who can perfectly solo the entire Nightmare Origins raid.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
