Destiny 2’s latest raid, The Nightmare Origins, has finally started releasing its exclusive encounter challenges. A second Crossfire went live last week for the second Scission encounter. However, some players will need instructions on how to properly complete this challenge. This guide will help Destiny 2 players understand and complete the Firefight challenges in the Nightmare Origins Raid.

crossfire challenge
For this Destiny 2 challenge, players can only cross the other side of the arena when activating the jump pad on the opposite side. Typically, players will shoot Diamond difficulty, which triggers a jump pad on one side of them, sending them to the other side. Others, however, have to shoot the diamond crossing from the opposite side for someone to cross.
This applies every time someone crosses the chasm, including entering the upper levels. If a skilled player attempts to travel at high speed by Well-skating or using the Eager’s Edge Sword, the challenge will automatically fail. That sounds easy on paper, but execution is another story given how inconsistent jump pads are. So what’s the best way to complete the challenge?

There are several ways to solve this problem. The first is to leave it all to the two runners who will communicate simultaneously to time their crosses. This will put the remaining four players under enemy control. This isn’t the “best” way to complete the challenge, but it will ensure that runners have a smoother time to reach each node without worrying about them dying to enemies.
The second way is to have two runners as usual, then have two stand by, shoot them across the canyon, and leave the remaining two in enemy hands. This will ensure that runners don’t need perfect timing when attempting to cross, and can go at their own pace without worrying about other runners. However, this method can only be used on Normal difficulty, as attempting to use it on Master difficulty would be very dangerous as enemies take a bigger hit and spawn more. Therefore, in order to complete the Crossfire challenge, the first method above will be recommended.
Master Difficulty Variations
For players attempting to complete the challenge on Master difficulty in a raid, there is a major change to be aware of. As expected, more enemies spawn and have higher health, making them harder to defeat. However, on the second and third levels, with the Anti-Barrier Colossus, the Unstoppable Torch will spawn. Enemy-controlled players should use appropriate weapons against these two champions; otherwise, they’ll be a terrible getaway.
Once you reach the third level and defeat all enemies, the Crossfire challenge is complete. Players will be rewarded with an exclusive Adept version of Acasia’s Dejection Trace rifle.
Destiny 2 is out now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
