Deadpool 3’s cast will include several familiar faces from the first two Ryan Reynolds films. Rob Delaney is the latest Deadpool veteran to join the Marvel Studios film, reprising his role as X-Force team member Peter.
Delaney’s Peter debuted as Peter in the first Deadpool sequel. Although he’s just a mortal with no superpowers or special skills, Peter successfully auditioned to join the X-Force, a team of superheroes created by Deadpool to free Russell from a prison transfer convoy and Protect him from the cables. However, after abandoning the plan to ambush the convoy by parachute, all X-Force members, including Peter, except for Zazie Beetz’s Domino, were killed before landing.
Fortunately for Peter, Deadpool uses Cable’s repaired time travel device to save Vanessa (who was killed at the beginning of Deadpool 2) and Peter. Deadline is now reporting that Delaney has reached a deal to reprise his role as Peter in Deadpool 3, but details on how his role will affect the story are unclear. Delaney joins returning Deadpool series stars Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Leslie Uggams as Deadpool’s roommate Blind Al, Stefan Kapicic as Colossus, and Karan Soni as Deadpool’s taxi driver partner, Dopinder. On Twitter, Delaney responded to the casting news with humor, writing: “I decided to win the Academy Award.”
The returning cast members join Deadpool 3 newcomer Emma Colin as an unknown villain and inherit an undisclosed role from star Matthew McFadden. Of course, the main star attraction is undoubtedly Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.
