Ranked matches are coming to Call of Duty : Warzone 2, and Activision has revealed its full plans for a new competitive mode in Battle Royale. Ranked matches have a contentious history in the Call of Duty series, which has traditionally embraced open competition between all skill levels. However, the popularity and demand for high-level competition in Battle Royale and Call of Duty Warzone 2’s own community is undeniable. It started with Call of Duty : Warzone 2, with the release of Season 03 Reloaded.
Call of Duty’s Season 03 Reloaded : Warzone 2 will officially begin on May 10, and ranked play isn’t the only feature being introduced in Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2. Other additions include the Alboran Hatchery core multiplayer map, a third Raid episode, a new experience for the DMZ, and two new fully automatic pistols. Also in Warzone 2 are new Perk Packs, Deployable Buy Stations, and Gulag Entry Kits.
However, Call of Duty : Warzone 2 ranked play is sure to change the battle royale experience the most. Players will receive skill ratings based on their game performance, with assists, eliminations and overall ranking being a major factor. To keep things balanced, there is a skill level entry fee for every game played. Success implies positive SR outcomes, while rapid elimination will lead to negative outcomes. SRs will then be represented in a transparent skill level ranking.
Like other competitive games from League of Legends to Apex Legends, Call of Duty : Warzone 2 will feature multiple skill levels. The lowest level is Bronze, and players can then climb up to Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Crimson, Iridescent, and even into the top 250 of SR. These top Warzone 2 contenders will also be displayed on the public leaderboard, so all players can honor the best in the world.
As for rewards, Call of Duty : Warzone 2’s ranked play will have a separate ranking system that rewards progression rewards. Enduring squads will earn players stars, earning stars grants ranks, and rewards every five ranks. Think of it as a new kind of ranked game battle pass. Rewards include amulets, badges, gun screens, and even ranked commander skins. Each season will also offer end-of-season rewards for reaching certain kill, assist, and placement milestones, as well as skill tiering rewards.
Call of Duty : Warzone 2’s Season 03 Reloaded release for Ranked Play is technically a beta. It will be dedicated to the Trios queue and hosted on the Al Mazrah map. Once Season 03 is over, and every season after that, players will be knocked down to a lower SR level and have to climb up again. As for the full launch of the 2004 season qualifying competition, players of “Call of Duty : Theater 2” can only wait and see.
Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is out now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
