As indie hit Among Us turns five this week, the development team at Innersloth has announced a new update and a new collaboration to celebrate the anniversary. The Among Us update made some major changes to the menu and fixed some bugs, while the announced partnership was well received by social media users.
Although Among Us was originally released in 2018, it remained relatively unknown for its first two years. However, with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, many gamers have found themselves stuck at home and have more time to play games and watch some games streamed. After some content creators heard about Among Us, the game took off as sales skyrocketed and more and more players began to understand what the social deduction game was all about. With the lovable Crewmates and devious Imposter in Space Squad, fans of games like Werewolf have been captivated by Among Us, as it became one of the most successful indie games to date. As the competition progresses into week five, Innersloth marked the occasion with something to celebrate.
Along with the new content update, Among Us has announced a partnership with Pusheen to bring some lovely decorative charms to the game in the form of the new Cosmicube. The Pusheen Cosmicube, which requires 110 stars to unlock and costs $9.99, allows players to earn a range of accessories and clothing by playing the game. Some of the skins available to Among Us players include the Pusheen pet, the full Pusheen skin, the cat nightcap, and new nameplates. However, the partnership between Among Us and Pusheen will only last until September 13, 2023.
Along with the partnership with Pusheen, Among Us players who update the game will notice a new look for the main menu at launch. The new menu will have a windowed view on the right side of the screen, with all the same options now on the left. The friend list and player ID will be displayed at the top of the screen. Additionally, players who log into Among Us on June 15th will receive a free decoration in honor of the game’s actual birthday. Innersloth also said they will be hosting a livestream on their Twitch channel on June 15 at 12:00PM PT/3:00PM ET to celebrate.
While Pusheen has worked with indie titles like Fall Guys before, this is the first time the adorable cat-themed brand has teamed up with Among Us. While the game celebrates five years on the market, players will have to wait and see what new things come to Innersloth in the future.
Among Us is now available for Android, iOS, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
